Reducing emissions. Powering better beauty.

Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data provides visibility into the carbon emissions associated with beauty ingredients, helping formulators make more informed sustainability decisions.

At Croda Beauty, we're redefining beauty through chemistry to shape a future where beauty can speak volumes without leaving a trace.  Beauty of Zero™ captures our ambition to achieve zero negative impact, developing sustainable ingredients, operations and value chains that enable smarter formulation and conscious design.

We’re committed to being Net Zero by 2050, with our target verified by the Science-Based Targets initiative and supported by operational decarbonisation and product portfolio-transforming Net Zero roadmaps. We provide Product Carbon Footprint data for most of our portfolio, already, including total carbon content and biogenic carbon, and we’re developing ingredients that help formulators avoid in-use emissions.

Unlock the power of carbon data for climate conscious beauty

Reducing the carbon impact of beauty products starts with understanding where emissions occur.

Croda Beauty's Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) statements provide ingredient-level carbon data to help beauty brands identify emissions hotspots, support sustainability reporting, and make more informed formulation decisions.

With Product Carbon Footprint statements available for over 90% of our ingredient portfolio (based on 2025 volume data), where over three-quarters now provide biogenic carbon and total carbon content information, we’re leading the charge for decarbonization in the industry.

Whether you're developing new products, setting climate targets, or looking to reduce Scope 3 emissions, our PCF data helps turn carbon insights into meaningful action.

What is a Product Carbon Footprint?

A Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) measures the greenhouse gas emissions associated with a product throughout its lifecycle.
Croda Beauty PCFs provide cradle-to-gate carbon footprint data, helping customers understand the emissions associated with an ingredient from raw material sourcing through to manufacture. This data enables brands to better understand the carbon impact of ingredient choices and identify opportunities to reduce emissions within formulations.

Why Product Carbon Footprint data matters

Understanding the carbon footprint of ingredients can help brands move from assumptions to evidence-based decision-making.

With access to Product Carbon Footprint data, you can:

  • Identify carbon hotspots - Understand which ingredients contribute most to a formulation's carbon footprint and where reductions may be possible.
  • Support lower-carbon formulation - Compare ingredient options and explore opportunities to reduce carbon impact during product development.
  • Enable sustainability reporting - Access credible carbon data that can support internal sustainability initiatives and reporting requirements.
  • Improve decision-making - Gain ingredient-level insights that support more informed formulation, procurement and innovation decisions.

Understanding Biogenic Carbon Data

Looking beyond emissions alone

Many Croda Beauty ingredients are derived from renewable, bio-based feedstocks.

To provide deeper insight into their carbon profile, the majority of our Product Carbon Footprint statements now include biogenic carbon and total carbon content data.

Biogenic carbon represents carbon that has been removed from the atmosphere and stored during the growth of biological raw materials such as plants.

This additional data helps brands:

  • Better understand the carbon profile of bio-based ingredients.
  • Compare bio-based and fossil-derived materials more accurately.
  • Gain greater visibility into the role renewable feedstocks can play within lower-carbon formulations.
  • Make more informed sustainability decisions based on deeper carbon insights.

Request a PCF statement

Ready to request your PCF statement? Getting started is simple:
