However, prolonged exposure to the sun's rays can result in lasting effect on the skin, including a deterioration in its ability to maintain homeostasis.

In the era of climate change, it is essential for consumers to prioritise optimal protection for their skin by adopting smart skincare routines that incorporate highly specific formulas addressing environmental aggressors. Geo-skincare represents a pioneering approach, advocating for more targeted care based on individual skin types and geographical and climatic factors.

Unveiling Phytessence™ Osmanthus, the floral ingredient dedicated to geo-skincare

This new extract puts the emblematic Osmanthus flower in the spotlight. With this ingredient, the emphasis has been placed on UV protection and addressing the oxidative stress associated with increasing levels of pollutants and temperatures resulting from extreme weather.

Crodarom selected Osmanthus flower to design this new product, as it is recognised in Asia as the protective flower for everyday life. Native to East Asia, Osmanthus is an emblematic flower there, admired and rooted in many cultures and traditions where it stands as a symbol of happiness and prosperity. Osmanthus has also seduced Western cultures, particularly in perfumery for its floral and fruity notes.

Quantified in verbacoside, Phytessence™ Osmanthus helps to protect the skin from the harmful effects of heat by regulating the production of HSP70 and reducing the production of free radicals. It also naturally soothes the skin from sunburn by reducing redness and the production of PGE2.

These proven properties make it an ideal choice for protecting skin in hot/warm climates, where sun’s rays and heat accentuated by climate change can have harmful effects.

An eco-designed extract

We couldn't imagine launching an ingredient that helps combat the effects of climate change on the skin without taking environmental concerns into account in its design.

That's why this new ingredient is manufactured with Crodarom’s green and eco-designed process, the Eco-sound™ technology. This environmental-friendly technology uses ultra-sound to extract the most valuable components of the flowers, with low energy consumption (3 kWh/100 L of extract) and without denaturing molecules from heat or chemical.
