Biotechnologies - 35 years of expertise
Well-known for peptides, Croda Beauty Actives has 35 years of expertise in biotechnologies.
Biotechnology is the use of biology to sustainably develop new ingredients through biological processes to improve human health and society. It includes different types of biotechnologies:
- Green biotechnology: use of plants and their cells to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. This technology was originally applied to agriculture.
- Blue biotechnology: use of marine biodiversity, including plants, animals, and microorganisms, to develop new products, technologies, and processes.
- White biotechnology: use of micro-organisms, such as fungi and bacteria, as alternatives to conventional chemical processes, to develop products and bio energies from biomass.
At Croda Beauty Actives, we developed actives from Plant Cell Culture (green biotechnology) and from micro-organism culture (blue and white biotechnology).
