Ginkgo also known as the 'thousand-crore tree', is an unusual tree. It can live for more than 1,000 years and has existed for more than 200 million years. Ginkgo trees are primitive plants which appeared during the Jurassic and were common until the end of the Tertiary period. Nowadays, they are the only remaining representatives of the Ginkgoaceae family and this long-gone vegetation.
