Phytexcell™ Birch

Add to favourites
Very widespread throughout the Northern hemisphere, the silver birch originates from Siberia and Europe. As early as the year 1200, the resin of the old trees, once fermented, has been used to produce a fizzy drink ‘birch wine’. The bark was used in the past as an astringent. The resin, the leaves and the bark have diuretic virtues and are also used in the treatment of skin conditions. In herbal medicine, the silver birch has a number of applications. The buds or the dry barks are used as a decoction and the leaves as a depurative. The tar is also an important substance in pharmacology. Rich in tannins and triterpens, the birch is an ideal plant to purify the skin and eliminates imperfections.
