Avocado trees are a beautiful tree with dense, persistent foliage, which grows up to 20 metres in height. Avocado pits have been found in caves in Mexico and Guatemala, indicating that the Aztecs and Mayans grew Avocado trees 10,000 years ago. Avocadoes were popular in pre-Colombian America because Amerindians had little access to food that was so rich in lipids. In Guatemala, the Mayans used it to promote hair growth and make it shine. The Aztecs, who probably created guacamole (later adopted by the Mexicans), routinely ate avocado or applied it to their skin to protect themselves from drying winds. After the conquest of Central and South America, the Spanish conquistadors introduced avocado trees into Europe as early as 1519. From there, they were taken to the West Indies and practically all tropical and subtropical areas with favourable growing conditions, and they became popular throughout the world Avocado trees are a symbol of good luck. The oily extract of avocado fruit contains mainly fatty acids, and phytosterols with antioxidant, emollient, and smoothing properties.
