Phytexcell™ Tamarind

Add to favourites
The tamarind tree grows in tropical areas of Asia, Africa and India. It is cultivated in China, the Caribbean, Indonesia and the USA. The word Tamarind comes from the Arab word tamar hindi which means “Indian Date”, a homage to the country where this fruit has been cultivated since prehistoric times. Its fruit which takes the shape of a pod is one of the ingredients of a large number of tasty oriental dishes. Its pods are a sweatmeat, in great demand in a number of countries, its pulp diluted in water with sugar, and depending on the region, spices, to obtain a whole range of highly refreshing drinks. In traditional medicine, it is used to treat fever and as a healing agent. In cosmetics, tamarind is mainly used due to its cleansing and refreshing powers in balancing skin care or greasy hair care.
