Phytexcell™ Sage

Add to favourites
Sage is common in the whole Mediterranean area and is cultivated in various European countries. Raised to the status of a sacred plant in both Ancient Greece and Rome, Sage (from the Latin salvare = to save, to heal) was considered as a basic remedy. Still used for religious and protective reasons, Sage, which is attributed with magic virtues, is still used today for fumigations. Sage was used by the ancient Egyptians to treat abdominal diseases, toothaches and asthma. It is to be found in the Ebers papyrus (1500 years BC) as a remedy against itching. Certain Roman authors recommend it for its warming, fortifying and astringent properties. Cosmetically sage extracts are used due to their anti-bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and astringent effects.
