Phytexcell™ Butcher's Broom

Add to favourites
While it is known by the appellation of Butcher’s broom, in reality its name is Fragon and is found in forests in temperate climes. Widespread in Europe, this plant produces small red berries in the autumn, the season when the rhizome is also harvested for its medicinal properties. The classical areas of use for butcher's broom are in the treatment of diuretic problems. The therapeutic effects of Butcher’s broom are derived from its roots which have always been used for their capacity to stimulate the micro-circulation of the blood and to drain the tissues. The main components of the roots are saponins of the steroid type (mainly ruscin, ruscosid and the aglyca ruscogenin). Other components are flavonoids and essential oils. Cosmetically butcher's broom extracts are used due to their veinotonic and anti-inflammatory effects in the treatment of sensitive skin, anti-cellulite or heavy legs and in anti-couperose creams.
