Phytexcell™ Balm Mint

Add to favourites
Balm Mint is both a wild and cultivated plant which grows wild in sub-mountainous areas of Central Europe. The word Melissa derives from the Greek, Melissa, melitta ‘bee’ and meli ‘honey’ and literally means “bee leaf”. In Antiquity, Melissa was cultivated to feed the bees because of its powerful perfume. The plant was occasionally used in certain pharmaceutical preparations, as a carminative and calming ingredient. It was also used as a tonic when applied externally. The leaves contain approx. 5 % tannins of complex caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid and traces of flavonoids with antibacterial and soothing properties.
